17th - 19th May 2019 ~ Braziers Park, Oxfordshire
a festival of music and nature
Here's a little bit about our 2016 headliners:
Emily Barker is the award-winning songwriter and performer of the theme to BBC TV’s Wallander starring Kenneth Branagh. Her music is a blend of roots influences from country to English folk via 60s pop. Emily's most recent album is The Toerag Sessions, featuring solo versions of songs
from her six previous albums, recorded live to tape at London's Toerag Studios
with Grammy-winning producer Liam Watson.
Sam Lee was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize on the release of his debut album, ‘Ground Of Its Own’ (July 2012) and has been making waves ever since. This former Burlesque dancer, professional forager, folk singer, song collector, club promoter ( The Nest Collective) teacher and radio host released his second, equally acclaimed album,
“The Fade in Time’ in March 2015.
‘Nyanza’ is the third album from the cross-cultural, boundary surpassing Owiny Sigoma Band. For their third offering, the band travelled to the Nyanza Province of Western Kenya to explore the birthplace of Luo music. The group features Nyatiti master Joseph Nyamungu and Lou percussionist Charles Owoko, both from the Nyanza Province in Western Kenya, as well as London-based musicians Tom Skinner, Jesse Hackett and Louis Hackett.
We were very pleased to welcome back some close Wood friends – Danny & the Champions of the World. This year Danny and co are riding high on the success of their “What Kind of Love” LP, a joyful riot of Caledonian soul, proud horns, country pedal steel and ballads that either break your heart or send it soaring, containing some of Danny Wilson’s greatest music yet. It’s the kind of album that will leave you itching to catch them live!
